Our specialized 9th grade math tutoring offers a blend of in-person and online classes, focusing on building a strong mathematical foundation. Our experienced tutors tailor lessons to align with current educational standards and curriculum, ensuring students excel in math and develop critical thinking skills.
We provide a personalized approach to cater to each student's unique needs, covering key topics like trigonometry and probability. Join us for a journey in math that boosts confidence and fosters academic success.
At Genie Academy, children will learn all the important math subjects, starting from probability and advancing to more complex topics like factorials. We'll also cover the Pythagorean theorem, geometry, and other important math concepts.
Here are the subjects we cover:
Skill Assessment
We begin with an assessment of your child's current math skills. This helps us understand their strong points and what they need to learn.
Customized Lesson Plan
Then, we create a personalized lesson plan. This plan is focuses on the areas they need the most help.
Math Teaching
Then, we start teaching math in an easy way. We use different methods to make sure your child understands and enjoys learning.
Concluding Progress Test
At the end of the program, we have a test to see how much your child has learned. This shows us what else they might need to work on.
9th grade will explore angles and triangles, essential for advanced mathematics and science:
Learning about sine, cosine, and tangent
Expanding knowledge beyond right-angled triangles to broader applications
Connecting trigonometric functions with the Pythagorean theorem
Exploring how different trigonometric functions relate and complement
Introducing concepts of inverse trigonometric functions
9th graders will engage deeply with factorials that have a key role in combinatorics and probability:
Learning to calculate factorials
Exploring how factorials are used in permutations and combinations
Finding and solving factorials through exercises
In 9th grade Geometry, students delve into coordinate geometry, focusing on key concepts:
Learning to find the midpoint of two points on a coordinate plane
Calculating the slope from various points
Introduction to the distance formula
9th graders will build upon their eighth-grade foundation in the Pythagorean Theorem:
Using the theorem for solving more complex geometry problems
Applying the theorem in conjunction with tangent lines of circles
9th graders will refine their understanding of probability, integrating it with other mathematical concepts:
Revisiting probability principles and applying this knowledge to Venn diagrams
Through word problems, constructing their own Venn diagrams
9th graders will delve into the study of circles, exploring various aspects:
Exploring the origin point, radius, diameter, chord, arc, tangent, and sector
Calculating the circumference and area of circles
Plotting equations of a circle and deriving equations from circle graphs
9th graders will explore the concept of permutation, focusing on arranging objects or elements in a specific order:
Learning the basics of permutation as an arrangement method in probability
Solving probability problems using permutations
9th graders will deepen their understanding of angles, building upon their existing knowledge:
Reviewing fundamental angle concepts
Exploring the intersecting lines theorem, learning how angles are formed and related through various intersections
Learning the parallel line theorem
9th graders will advance their understanding of probability with a focus on conditional probability:
Learning the principles of conditional probability
Exploring the formula for conditional probability to calculate probabilities
Solving conditional probability problems using tables
9th graders will explore the concept of combination in, focusing on arrangements where order doesn't matter:
Learning that combination involves arranging objects without regard to the order
Solving probability and counting problems using combinations, both with and without repetition
Knowledgeable & Passionate Coaches
At Genie Academy, we offer a team of knowledgeable and passionate coaches who prioritize your child's success.
Small Class Sizes
Our small class sizes ensure personalized attention, allowing us to implement our carefully designed curriculum based on the Genie Academy teaching philosophy.
Clear Communication and Curriculum Transparency
We believe in transparency. Your child brings home materials, and we keep you informed with regular feedback, Parent Coach conferences, and accessible student records on our Parent Portal.
Improve your child’s reading and writing skills and get them started with coding.
Here are our core programs:
Genie Academy teaches students to enhance reading fluency and comprehension, focusing on phonics, vocabulary, and interpretation skills.
Genie Academy students learn to develop their writing abilities, covering grammar, structure, and style, tailored to their grade level and creative or academic needs.
At Genie Academy, we believe in providing the best learning experience for your child. Our experienced teachers are committed to helping children succeed in reading, writing, math, and coding.
Genie Academy coaches are committed to our mission of uncovering your student's genius. They are dedicated, passionate, exciting, and motivating. Our coaches are committed to making the Genie Academy experience fun for kids.
Classes run once a week and vary in length, depending on your child’s age. Toddler classes for children ages 3 ½ to 5 are for one hour. Junior and senior classes for students older than 5 are two hours. Class sizes are deliberately kept small so that teachers can give each child the maximum attention needed. No more than five children are in the toddler classes. No more than eight students are in the junior and senior classes.
Our team will evaluate your child to discover their strengths and weaknesses and provide an in-depth recommendation outline of what they need to ensure that they will succeed.
