About ACT Test
The ACT is a key college admissions test in the United States that assesses English, Math, Reading, and Science skills, with an optional Writing section.
It lasts 2 hours 55 minutes and extends to 3 hours and 35 minutes with Writing. Each section is timed and focuses on areas critical to college readiness and is scored on a scale of 1-36, except for Writing, which is 2-12 and does not contribute to the overall score.

The ACT English section allows you to refine and edit text to improve clarity and accuracy, ensuring you can apply standard rules of English grammar and composition.

⌄ Number of Questions: There are 75 questions in this section and 5 passages.
⌄ Content Covered: This section evaluates your understanding of English grammar, punctuation, and sentence structure through various editing tasks. You’ll work with passages that need corrections and enhancements in areas such as grammar, sentence structure, and overall rhetorical effectiveness.
Math Format
In Mathematics, you will apply math concepts and skills from various topics, including algebra, geometry, and trigonometry, to solve problems effectively.
⌄ Time Allotted: The Math section provides 60 minutes for completion.
⌄ Number of Questions: It consists of 60 questions.
⌄ Content Covered: This section includes a wide range of mathematical topics from algebra to trigonometry, focusing on problem-solving, data interpretation, and application of mathematical principles in real-world scenarios.
In the Reading section, you will encounter passages from different genres, each of which requires you to interpret information to answer accompanying questions.
⌄ Time Allotted: You have 35 minutes to answer questions in the Reading section.
⌄ Number of Questions: 4 passages are provided, with 40 questions.
⌄ Content Covered: The section tests your comprehension and interpretation skills across various genres, including fiction, social science, humanities, and natural science. You’ll answer questions that gauge your ability to understand and analyze written material.
Science Format
The Science section assesses your ability to interpret and reason based on scientific data and concepts presented in various formats without needing specific prior scientific knowledge.
⌄ Time Allotted: This section also allows 35 minutes for completion.
⌄ Number of Questions: There are 7 passages to analyze, with 40 questions.
⌄ Content Covered: Rather than testing specific scientific knowledge, this section assesses your skills in scientific reasoning and analysis through tasks involving data evaluation, experimental results, and conflicting viewpoints.
The Writing section asks you to write a well-organized essay responding to a specific issue, testing your ability to articulate and support your views clearly.
⌄ Time Allotted: An extra 40 minutes is given if you opt to take the Writing section.
⌄ Task: You will respond to one essay prompt.
⌄ Content Covered: The Writing task requires you to write an essay in response to a prompt that presents a contemporary issue with three differing perspectives. You are assessed on your ability to articulate your own perspective, analyze the given perspectives, and write a reasoned and well-structured argument.
